At LAPP, we prioritize sustainable and environmentally friendly management and the responsible use of natural resources. To reduce our own CO₂ emissions, we place great importance on the efficient operation of our buildings and facilities. The heart of LAPP lies in production, development, and management. We continually work on the sustainable planning, construction, and operation of our buildings. This also includes identifying the largest sources of energy consumption and subsequently optimizing that consumption.

Sustainability

Since 2019, LAPP has been purchasing 100% of its energy from green energy in Germany—supplemented by its own photovoltaic and geothermal systems. At several of LAPP’s international locations, electricity is also generated from renewable sources through its own photovoltaic systems. Almost all of LAPP’s production facilities and a large proportion of its distribution companies are ISO 14001 certified. Twenty of our companies in the EMEA region collaborate closely on energy management as part of a matrix ISO 50001 certification. Consistent quality management in accordance with ISO 9001 guarantees LAPP’s high standards, which focus primarily on products with high reliability and robustness.

Our environmental goal is to reduce CO₂ emissions at the company level by 30% by 2027.

As we move towards a more climate-friendly future, we also focus our attention on the value chain. In the spirit of the circular economy, LAPP is working with partners to further develop products and processes to reduce waste and reuse resources.

Shorter transport routes, efficient shipping processes

Our global logistics centers continuously coordinate which products are manufactured in which factories around the world and which logistics centers they are stored in, depending on their suitability for our global or local portfolio, based on regional considerations. This ensures shorter transportation distances and efficient shipping processes, thanks to sophisticated digital logistics solutions.

Furthermore, we are always looking for ways to optimize packaging—essential for the protection and safe transportation of products—and to save materials, for example, by using a high proportion of recycled materials. Thanks to internal initiatives, LAPP has reduced the amount of plastic in its packaging and increased the proportion of recycled raw materials.

Reduction of packaging and hazardous waste

Among other measures, the thickness of the plastic film used by LAPP to package its wiring products has been reduced from 80 to 70 µm.

Thanks to linerless labels, which do not require a silicone backing film, hazardous waste can be avoided. Furthermore, LAPP offers a collection service for the return of reusable solid wood drums. Drums that are not suitable for reuse are recycled and reprocessed using a special wood press. Thanks to this recycling cycle, LAPP saves four times the cost of wood disposal.

In addition to these promising individual projects, we have set ourselves the goal of developing a holistic circular economy strategy.
